Fluorocarbon has several advantages; it is stiff, has very little stretch and a high sensitivity, so you won’t miss a fish’s bite and it has excellent fighting performance. It is resistant to abrasions when hitting obstacles and is much more durable than nylon. It has a high specific weight and easily breaks the surface tension of the water. In flat and severe conditions, if the tippet is floating, the fish will spook, but even in such conditions a fluorocarbon tippet can easily go under the water surface . It is harder for fish to see compared to nylon.
